Amanda and Ashley’s first bubble bath

By jason, May 23, 2010 on 11:03 pm | In alissa | No CommentsWe’ve been meaning to get Alissa’s haircut for quite a while now. When it’s wet, her hair goes almost all the way down her back. In preparation, Bonnie had bought a Blue’s Clues “Sprinkles gets a haircut” book. And we’ve been talking about it casually here and there. Finally, after getting a $5 coupon for Supercuts, we decided to go get it done. Here she is watching someone else get her hair cut:
She seemed curious but not particularly excited about the notion. When it was came time to get in the chair, she was a bit resistant, but we didn’t get the kicking and screaming that I was kind of expecting. Instead she just needed a little coaxing and encouragement and just kinda sat in the chair quietly and almost pensively for the most part.
It was a little embarrassing as she had something suspiciously resembling dried boogers in her hair that the stylist had to work a little bit to get out.
You can really see the boogers in this short video:
But other than that, the whole thing was pretty painless. We were quite proud of her actually. Bonnie even got a “lock” of hair for the scrap book. I forgot to take a picture of the final result, but she got it cut to under her shoulders so we can still put it up in a ponytail and the rest kinda just trimmed and some other term that I can’t remember. Not layered. Something with a “B.” I dunno… when I get a hair cut, I just tell the guy “#2 on the sides and back, trim the top.”
Alissa’s first movie
By jason, May 22, 2010 on 3:07 pm | In alissa | No CommentsAlissa and I tagged along with Alan and Benita to go see Shrek 4. It was Alissa’s first movie and a 3D one at that. Also, it was organized through Alan’s office so everything was gratis and they even had some kid friendly activities before hand and parting gifts afterwards. All in all, it was a very well run event and Alissa had an excellent time. Even better, she managed to behave pretty well throughout the whole movie only fussing with her 3D glasses a bit towards the end. Anyway, here’s a picture of Alissa enjoying the perks of Alan’s job:

I only let her eat some of the popcorn and a bite of the ice cream to make sure we didn’t end up with issues later on and in fact, I was pleasantly surprised at how uneventful the trip was.
Kira’s birthday party
By jason, May 20, 2010 on 12:09 am | In alissa, amanda, ashley, friends | No CommentsWe took the kids to a gymnastic’s based birthday party last weekend. Amanda really loved it. She’s definitely the daredevil of the three.
Here she is enjoying some of the soft wedge shaped thingys:

Ashley was a bit more timid but seemed to have a good time as well:

And Alissa took a little while to warm up by finally took her turn on the trampoline and other apparatus. That being said, I think she liked the bubbles the most.

Here’s the birthday girl herself mid hop on the long trampoline:

After changing into her minnie mouse dress:

Getting ready for cake:

I think all the kids were really really ready for cake:

Is she a cutie or what? Of course, brother Reid got his fair share as well:

And you can’t finish off with cake… you must have more sugar. In this case, a dum dum lollipop:

Kid’s say the darndest things
By jason, May 11, 2010 on 10:06 pm | In alissa | No CommentsPart of Alissa’s Mother’s Day gift for Bonnie was a questionnaire that the teachers populated for her. Some of it is pretty funny.
My favorite is what Mommy likes to watch on TV.
Surprise birthday party for a 35 year old… at hop -n- play
By jason, May 10, 2010 on 5:04 pm | In alissa, ashley, friends | No CommentsWe went to a surprise birthday party for Jeff today. At hop -n- play in Tanforan mall. Obviously, the party location was more for the kids than the birthday boy. One of the many sacrifices we parents make. Amanda slept through most of it, but here are a few pics:

Here’s a short non-descript video as well (it’s mostly just practicing how to shoot video with a DSLR.)

Nice day to test out the new backyard
By jason, May 2, 2010 on 6:48 pm | In alissa, amanda, ashley, friends | No CommentsKen, Jen, Connor, and Lucas came over for lunch today and to help Alissa break in her new playhouse. (It’s almost done.) It was a great day weather wise and I think the kids had almost as much fun with the new mulch as they did with the sand box, playhouse, and sidewalk chalk.
It’s nice to have a backyard that is usable. Might need to get an umbrella next though. Or maybe one of those big propane heaters for the colder days. Or do they make a kid friendly fire pit?
Perfect size sandbox! (Extension cord is in the background… trying to put the finishing touches on the left side window.)

Harding park pictures
By jason, May 2, 2010 on 6:38 pm | In alissa, amanda, ashley | No CommentsWe tried to do some pictures with the kids at the park near Harding Park golf course. It was not particularly successful. Getting three little kids to do what you want at the same time is a challenge with so many distractions about. But here are a few for your viewing pleasure anyway.
