Soda Springs Ski Trip

We’ve been meaning to introduce the kids to skiing and finally managed a trip over the break with some family friends. Before heading to the snow, we had to get some gloves for Alissa. So we made an afternoon of it walking around Crissy Field before getting said gloves at Sports Basement:

We made a “detour” on the way out by way of Reno to get some special monster donuts. Literally, the size of your head:

Mmm… donuts:

On day 1, the weather wasn’t cooperating so we ended up making the most of the snow in the front yard of the house:

I relived some childhood memories making a tunnel:

There was plenty of snowball and snowman building:

And even some sledding:

Thankfully, the second day had nice weather so we made our way to Soda Springs and took advantage of their Planet Kids section. Not a bad deal… $25 for rentals (ski and/or snowboard), “lift” ticket, tube merry-go-round rides, and a fun little “ski shuttle” to get to the area from the main lodge.

“French Fries” (it was too slushy to really need “pizza”):

Alissa headed up the conveyor belt for another run:

Ashley did great keeping her hands on her knees:

All in all a very successful first foray into skiing! Next year we’ll have to do more. Hopefully they’ll be able to give me a run for my money in a few years.
