…we had another set of twins. I’d have to practice my swaddling.

The girls were more accommodating during this exercise than I would have guessed. That being said, they houdini’d out in a couple seconds after they decided they had had enough.

Alissa has been asking for a doctor set for months. She finally earned it by napping five times. Not in a row mind you… these five naps took her a long time to accumulate. I’ve been teaching her about stethoscopes and otoscopes and such. It also comes with a blood pressure cuff, thermometer, syringe, and bandaid. Plus, a pink carrying case. Did I tell you I live with four girls?

Our life: Birthdays and Parkdays

These days, we are firmly entrenched in the life phase of kid birthdays and parkdays. Case in point, last weekend, we went to one of Alissa’s classmate’s birthday parties… which was, in fact, held at a playground. And in the short week since that party, we have been to a handful of other parks. Point is… get used to seeing more pictures like these:

I was a fairly anal kid. Face painting in particular kinda grossed me out. Alissa, however, is quite the opposite. At Daniel’s birthday party, there were a few face-painters-in-training. Unfazed, Alissa asked to be a cat. Here’s the transformation.

Although in this picture, she looks more like a monkey from the zoo:

Here are a few pictures from our local playground. We don’t go nearly as often as we used to when it was just Alissa. But the babies seem to have picked up the ins and outs of slides and such nonetheless.

Strange little people

With every day, the kids’ personalities and interactions become more and more interesting.

First, they’re becoming more and more “hammy” in front of the camera.

Second, they’re fighting more.

Third, they’re imitate us more and more.

Fourth, they’re developing physical skills like Ashley’s “hopping.”

And finally, when they’re not fighting, they occasionally will all play together.

Preschool summer program activities

Alissa’s preschool program does a lot of field trips during the summer months. All of the parents are pretty involved so there’s typically a healthy mix of kids and adults. That plus the fact that two of our friends have kids who go to the same school means that Bonnie has had at least a little help in those instances when she has had to bring all three kids along.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to participate much since I just started the new job, but I have been able to follow along at least through pictures Bonnie sends from her iphone. Here are some of the highlights:

Alissa’s preschool “graduation” this year had only one true graduate, but the school did some little performances to mark the occasion. Here’s what I captured from the event.

Happy 5th Year Anniversary to Us

Today is our fifth anniversary. I figure if we can get through the rigors of being newlyweds, moving in together, getting one kid out of the terrible-twos (although still not out of the terrible-threes), and getting twins to nearly 18 months without killing each other (us, not them… although now that I think about it, them too) in the first five years of marriage, the next 50 years should be a piece of cake. (I reserve the right to revise this sentiment in the teenage years.)

We’ve been a bit MIA lately. With the normal craziness of the kiddies plus the added craziness of new job stuff, I’ve been a bit negligent the last few weeks. However, the lack of actual posts just means this will be one mega post. So, without further ado…

I got the iphone 4 since I had to give back my work blackberry and my new job doesn’t provide a phone, but does give a stipend. Woot! Timing was perfect and I was able to get one the second day they were available by just hitting up the Apple store in the mall first thing in the morning. Just had to wait about 20 minutes. Here’s the first photo I took with the front facing camera:

Not too much all that groundbreaking otherwise, although I did recently get to try out the facetime feature with Christian as he just got one himself. Kids seemed to enjoy it:

For those of you who may have forgotten over the long lapse, I still have lots of kids:

It’s been a while since we did some family photos so we tried to do some this past weekend. I noticed some new landscaping along the Great Highway that I thought might make a decent backdrop that was easy to access. Amanda, however, weren’t very cooperative.

Ashley, however, seemed to enjoy swinging her legs while sitting on the bench.

Anyway, after that mostly failed attempt, we ended up just going home and doing naps/feeding. They were in a better mood later in the day so we did a couple quick ones in the backyard with the tripod. As you can see, I was not planning on being in any pictures myself.

While we were back there, I took some random pics while the kiddies played in the sand.

We also went to dinner this weekend to celebrate Bonnie’s mom’s birthday. After dinner, we came back to our place for some dessert. Hard to get everyone looking, but this one isn’t bad.

New driver’s license

Got my new license today. 5 years have passed and I no longer have the motorcycle suit from the older picture. Instead, I have a wife and three baby girls. I guess that’s a fair trade. I have a feeling the next driver’s license may show even more wrinkles. Hopefully, if I’ve inherited the good genes from my parents though, the gray hairs won’t show up for a while longer.
